I told you yesterday, in the second Lecture, to get a pen and a piece of paper and write down everything you desire and want to have or do this year, everything you desire in 2020.
I hope you’ve done that? If you’ve not, don’t read further. Put down your devise right now and obey that instruction. If not, what you read might not do you any or much good.
It is only fools that learn and take no action based on what they learn. Wise people like you always do something with what they learn and that is why they always move forward in life.
That is why I’m sure you will greatly move forward this year because you’re one of the wise people in this world. That is why I know you will succeed in this year 2020.
I have a young man in our church, he’s one of those who contributed so greatly to the success of our church’s anniversary held in December 2019, both financially and logistically. I’m really proud of him.
He became serious and committed in church in 2019 after we appointed him as one of the key youth leaders and the church’s officials. He’s not perfect but has been very wonderful.
But one thing I really like about him is he likes to learn. He’s really eager to learn and apply what he learns to his life and works.
I remember him telling me late last year after I finished teaching during our Friday’s midweek service, that he likes me very much because he always learns greatly from my teachings.
As he spoke that day you’ll see someone speaking the truth as it was in his heart with joy. And it shows in his life because he keeps making progress despite the many challenges of life.
His mother is late. His father is a bit old. He’s in his very early twenties. Yet he finds a way to support himself without doing anything ungodly. He feeds himself, clothes himself and sponsors his studies.
When he newly joined our church, I discovered he was learning generator repairs work and I remember he visited us one day and while talking, he told me he was pursuing his admission into tertiary institution.
I advised him to focus on the generator repair work he was learning and not bother about going to tertiary school yet, until he was through learning the trade and has started using it to work.
I told him of the untold numbers of graduates of tertiary institutions who are unemployed and looking for jobs everywhere and have no means of supporting themselves.
I told him if he finishes with his apprenticeship in the power generator repairs, he could start working and then seek admission into any school of his choice, and while schooling he would still be working and would be able to sponsor himself in school with the money he makes from his works of generator repairs.
He took to my advise. He focused on the generator repairs apprenticeship. He graduated and started working and making money.
Then he wrote the Nigeria’s tertiary institution’s entrance exam and passed. Now he’s in school and he’s the one sponsoring his education.
He had written that exam before and failed. But when he yielded to my counsel and focused one thing at a time with good plans in mind, he succeeded and he’s happy for it today.
He repairs generators for people and he’s very good at it, very good; he repairs our generator. He often receives calls in my presence from people who want him to come and work for them. He even works for many churches.
In addition, he keeps learning other profitable businesses that could fetch him money and more success, including various internet businesses like forex trading.
He never needed to beg anybody for school fees and he will never be stranded in school, because he’s self sufficient by God’s Grace.
He is succeeding today partly because he takes note of lessons, he applies the lessons to his life and takes to profitable counsels. His school has been on strike for months, but he’s working, learning and making money.
During our church’s cross over service on January 1st, as I was teaching on the theme for the year, I told them to write their desires for the year, like I told you all here yesterday.
As I was pointing to each of them one after the other and telling them to write their plans and what they want to achieve this year, when I pointed to him, he told me “Already written.”
No wonder he keeps succeeding. He had already written what he wants to pursue and achieve in 2020 before the year ever arrived. That is one of the major characteristics of successful people. They write what they want to achieve in life for each time, for each year.
Why do they do that? Because they learnt it or were taught by somebody at some point in their life, and they took to the lessons. They don’t just learn and do nothing with the lessons like fools usually do. They learn and take actions.
For such people, success is always certain. Always be one of such. This year, don’t join the company of fools who are always learning but never come to the knowledge of the truth, always learning but never acting, always learning but doing nothing about the lessons learnt.
This year, don’t be like that. Learn and act based on what you learn. Make use of the knowledge you acquire from what you read, what you see, and what you hear. That is what will make you to succeed in life. That is what will make you to succeed this year.
So, after having written what you want for the year, the next thing you must do, that will make you to have each of those things you desire and want to do or have in life, is to choose from among them the ones you want to pursue.
You may have written 5 or 100 things that you desire this year 2020. But for your desire to translate into an achievement, you must move from the stage of desire to the stage of decision.
So, the next thing you must do now is to decide on which of your desires that you want to give your full time, energy, money and resources to this year.
Out of all the things you said you want to have or do this year, which of them are you certain you can really pursue and that you will truly achieve, this year? Look through your list now and write those ones out.
It could be just 1, 2, 3 or 30. Write it all out separately right now. Give it enough of the needed thoughts. If you must succeed this year, you must decide on what you want to succeed at.
You do that by selecting what you want to focus upon and make sure you pursue and achieve from among what you really want to achieve.
Remember, to succeed means to achieve your desired or intended result and do what you want to do. Anything you want to achieve must first be pursued. It is only what you work upon that will work out for you.
You won’t succeed simply because you pray or fast or read the Bible or go to mountain. You won’t succeed simply because someone lays hands on you or you are anointed with oil and all that. You will succeed because you work on what you want in life.
That is the only time that all those prayers, fasting, anointing and hand laying will work for you. Each of them is very important to your success but none of them will make you succeed without working.
Prayers, fasting and all the powerful spiritual activities don’t replace your work but rather aid your work. They help your works and make you succeed faster with what you do.
That is why you must choose what to do this year and each time. You must choose what you want to pursue that you know you are ready to give all that you have and can to, to make sure you achieve.
What are you willing and ready to pursue this year from among the things you desire to achieve this year? Choose them and write them all out now. I’ll tell you the next thing to do in the next Lecture.
